UMBC BASEBALL SKIPPER SIGNS FOUR TO NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT

Baltimore, Md. – Head UMBC Baseball Coach John Jancuska announced today the signings of four out-of-state athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend UMBC for the 2004-05 academic year.  The list of signings includes Brian Duffy (Little Neck, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), Mark Lemon (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark’s), Chris Ott (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Steve Russo (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley).

 

Duffy is a 6’3”, 180-pound right-handed pitcher from Little Neck, N.Y.  Duffy went 3-0 in junior year with a 1.95 ERA. 

 

Lemon made first team all-catholic league last season at St. Mark’s High School.  The 5’11”, 175-pound infielder hit .347 during his junior campaign.

 

Russo is a 6’0”, 175-pound infielder out of Lancaster, Md.  Russo hit .393 his junior season en route to being named first team all-league last year.

 

Ott is 6’3”, 170-pound right-handed pitcher that was named to the Long Island Empire State Team last year.  Ott can clock out in the mid to upper 80s. 

  

TRANSACTIONS:  UMBC signs Brian Duffy, Mark Lemon, Chris Ott and Steve Russo to National Letters of Intent.
