2006: Started two games for the Retrievers before redshirting due to injury… Recorded a 6.00 ERA in 9.0 innings pitched while striking out five batters.
2005: Made eight starts on the season and 18 total appearances… Held a 3.92 ERA in his seven conference appearances and three starts, pitching 20.2 innings and allowing nine earned runs… Struck out 11 batters and held opponents to a .272 batting average, the lowest average allowed by any Retriever pitcher in conference play… Finished the year 3-2 with one save, 26 strikeouts and a 6.04 ERA in 56.2 innings pitched.
2004: Made 13 appearances in his rookie season, including four starts on the year… First start came against Maryland, allowing the Terps two hits and one run while striking out two batters in 5.0 innings… Earned his first win of the season against eventual conference champion Stony Brook, going 2.2 innings in relief as UMBC won that game 13-10… Finished the year with 18 strikeouts in 31.1 innings of work.
Evans' Background: Attended Chapelgate Academy… Earned All-MIAA his junior and senior years and was named by the Baltimore Sun, Washington Times and Howard County Times to First-Team All-County in 2003 as well as Second-Team All-Metro by the Baltimore Sun… Led his team to the MIAA ‘B’ division championship… In the semifinals his senior year, he pitched a two-hitter, allowing one run and was 3-of-4 on the day, including scoring the game-winning run with a triple… Scoring 1,300 career points in basketball en route to earning All-MIAA status and winning two Christian School State Championships… Double-majoring in sociology and american history...
