2004: Led UMBC at the plate with a .316 batting average, starting and playing in 49 of 52 games on the season…finished with 60 hits, 34 runs scored, 37 RBI and 10 doubles on the year…held a 13-game hit streak that included seven multi-hit games and ended after a 3-for-5 performance with three RBI, two doubles and two runs scored…pitched in 10 games with nine starts and finished with a 3-4 record…threw a complete seven inning game against Albany, striking out three and allowing three runs on nine hits…recorded two seven-strikeout performances and finished the season with 39 strikeouts in 57.0 innings pitched…held a 5.37 ERA on the year.
2003: Hit .314 in nine games started as the team's designated hitter…knocked two doubles, recorded three RBI and scored five runs…started on the mound against Cleveland State, going seven innings and giving up two runs on five hits while striking out four…helped his own cause in that game from the plate, knocking a base hit and scoring a run in the Retrievers' 4-2 win…was named NEC Pitcher of the Week following that game…pitched in two games, going 1-1 on the year with a 4.09 ERA…an arm injury forced him to sit out the remainder of the season…received a medical hardship waiver.
2002: Went 6-5 with a 4.88 ERA in his first season on the mound...led the staff with 57 strikeouts and a 3.4 strikeouts/walks ratio...was second on team with five complete games...fired a masterpiece against Quinnipiac on April 27 for his first career shutout...allowed just a single hit, walked only one and fanned six Braves' batters...was phenomanal in consecutive starts against Sacred Heart (3/29) and Mount St. Mary's (4/3)...recorded his first career victory against the Pioneers after allowing just three hits and one run in 7.0 innings and then allowed no earned runs in 7.0 innings in his victory against the Mountaineers...turned in a solid outing against Central Connecticut State in the NEC Championships, allowing just three runs in 7.1 innings of work...also hit .306 in 49 at bats as a designated hitter...picked up a pair of hits and 2 RBI's against George Washington on May 8...went 2-for-5 with an RBI against Monmouth in the NEC Championships....named Rookie of the Week by the NEC three times in 2002.
Clark's Background: A two-time All State selection from Newark High School in Delaware…a junior hit .492, hitting for the cycle against DelCastle….as a senior hit and pitched Newark into the State tournament batting .482, with seven doubles, 20 RBI and pitching a 7-1 record, with a 1.32 ERA and 62 K’s in 42 IP…that summer posted a perfect 7-0 record with the Grand Slam Diamonds in the NABF summer league...son of Jay Clark and Mary Jo Higgins-Mankin...born on July 11, 1983.
