<title>Men's Basketball Takes to Road to Face George Washington in Saturday Matinee</title>

 <description>UMBC plays its first road contest of the year and George Washington opens its home schedule as the Retrievers (0-2)&amp;#8200;and Colonials (2-0)&amp;#8200;play a Saturday matinee (2:00 p.m.) at the Smith Center. This will be the fourth consecutive year that these two teams have met. The Colonials won, 70-64, on Thanksgiving Eve last season and tied the all-time series at three apiece. Paul Mittermeier has the call of the game, beginning with the pregame show at 1:55 p.m. on Fox 1370 Sports Radio (www.fox1370.com).

 <description>Junior guard Jamal Barney scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half as visiting Loyola (2-1) held off UMBC (0-2), 69-66, in the 43rd meeting between the two Baltimore-area schools. UMBC sophomore wing Chauncey Gilliam scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Retrievers. UMCB rallied from a 10-point first half deficit to lead on three occaions in the final three minutes, but could not pull out the victory.

 <description>UMBC and Loyola played for 20 consecutive seasons a year after the Retrievers joined the NCAA Division I ranks. That streak came to an end after the 2006-07 meeting, but the two schools renew the rivalry in the Retrievers' second game of the campaign. The Retrievers and Greyhounds tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night at the RAC Arena. The game will be televised live by MASN, and Fox 1370 AM (www.fox1370.com) and www.umbcretrievers.tv also will broadcast the action.</description>

 <description>BALTIMORE—Senior guard Reggie Holmes scored 19 of his game-high 23 points in the second half as Morgan State (2-0) rallied for a 72-57 win at UMBC (0-1) in the opening game of the season for the Retrievers. Senior wing Matt Spadafora led UMBC with 12 points. UMBC led by 12 at halftime and by 18 early in the second half, but foul woes and trouble with the Morgan State zone sent UMBC to a loss in the opener.</description>

UMBC leads the all-time series, 13-11, but Morgan State won last year's contest, 67-60, at Hill Field House. The Retrievers' broadcast partner will air two games against local rivals from the RAC Arena early in the season.  On Wednesday, Nov. 18, UMBC hosts Loyola, and the following Tuesday, Nov. 24, the Retrievers entertain Coppin State. MASN will also air a pair of games as part of the America East Conference's television package. Those contests are at Stony Brook on Monday, Jan. 18 and at Hartford on Thursday, Feb. 11.

<title>Justin Fry Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery; Hopes to Return For America East Competition</title>

 <description>On Sept. 30, UMBC senior forward Justin Fry underwent successful surgery to repair the medial patellofemoral ligament in his right knee in order to prevent the reoccurrence of dislocation. He suffered the injury during a workout with teammates a month ago. With a successful rehabilitation, Fry could return to active duty in January of 2010. Fry has competed in 89 games in three seasons, starting 59.
