Krause Nets Four, as Women's Lacrosse Rallies to Edge No. 19 Johns Hopkins, 7-6
Alicia Krause now has 30 goals on the season.
It was UMBCís second victory over a ranked opponent in 2012, as the Retrievers also defeated then-No. 13
The Retrievers won for the fourth time in five outings, while Johns Hopkins fell for the sixth consecutive time and slipped to 7-8 overall.
Johns Hopkins got out to a 2-0 lead, but UMBC tied the game at 2-all and the game stayed that way until halftime. The Blue Jays pushed ahead one goat at a time, but the Retrievers responded with the tying goal on each occasion.
JHU took its final lead with 16:36 remaining on a goal by Colleen McCaffrey.
The Retrievers got possession with 5:15 remaining and managed to hold the ball until 33 seconds remained. But
No other Retriever scored multiple points in the game, but junior midfielder Lindsday Cox (
UMBC outshot JHU, 22-18, and had 14 ground balls to the Blue Jaysí 8. Retriever freshman goalkeeper Anna Barnett (
McCaffrey led Johns Hopkins with three goals.
Krause hit on all three of her free position attempts.
The Retrievers have the weekend off and await the results of other league games to determine if they will face host and top-seeded
