BALTIMORE – UMBC head volleyball coach Ian Blanchard announced today that setter Paige Miller has signed a National Letter of Intent to play her collegiate volleyball in Baltimore for the Retrievers in 2012.
“We’re really excited to have Paige come to UMBC,” said head coach Ian Blanchard. “She comes from one of the best club programs in Pennsylvania, and can add a lot to our team.”
A year ago, Miller, a 5-9 setter from Reading, Pa., assisted her club to second place at the 2011 Nationals. At Schuylkill Valley High School, she was named to the All-County Team in 2011, while garnering All-Division honors in 2010 and 2009. In addition, she was selected to the District III All Star team this past season.
In her academic pursuits, Miller has been named a merit scholar and been on the honor roll all four years at Schuylkill Valley.
Miller will attempt to fill big shoes when she arrives on campus as she will compete to extend the line of successful setters under Blanchard. The previous two setters, Kira Giles (3,185) and Allie Spaay (2,234) rank third and seventh on the school’s all-time assists list, respectively.
