UMBC Cross Country Competes in Princeton Invitational Saturday

BALTIMORE—The UMBC men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the Princeton Invitational Saturday at 10 a.m. The site of the invitational will also be the course of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 15.

 

Sophomore Paul Zwama (Groningen, Netherlands/CSG Dingstede) led the Retriever men to a victory in the Towson Invitational on Oct. 3, finishing first overall. UMBC had four finishers in the top five with senior Anthony Kelhower (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) finishing second, while senior Andrew Madison (Edgewater, Md./South River) and sophomore Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College) finished fourth and fifth overall.

 

For the third week in a row, the men have been ranked 15th in the Mid-Atlantic Region poll by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

 

On the women’s side, junior Sara Parkinson (Lancashire, England/Loughborough University) finished first as the Retrievers placed third in the team standings.

 

This is the final tune-up for the Retrievers before they take part in the America East Championship, Nov. 1 at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, Md.
