UMBC JUNIOR MELANIE DENISCHUK FEATURED IN BALTIMORE SUN

    Melanie Denischuk was named UMBC's Female Athlete of the Year Monday evening.

    Courtney O'Hara is hitting .444, tops in the America East.

    UMBC first baseman Melanie Denischuk was featured on the front page of the sports section in The Baltimore Sun on Wednesday. The junior leads the America East with a school and conference record 22 home runs and 80 RBI.

    Also featured in the Baltimore Examiner last month was freshman outfielder Courtney O'Hara. The native of Pasadena, Md., leads the Retrievers with a .444 batting average.

    At 45-18 overall and 11-10 in the conference, UMBC earned its first-ever berth in the America East Championships and will take on second-seeded Albany Thursday at 12 p.m. in Orono, Maine.
