UMBC Athlete of the Week: Levi Houapeu, Men’s Soccer
Oct. 25-31, 2010
Senior forward Levi Houapeu scored three goals in UMBC’s playoff-clinching 3-1 victory over Vermont on Oct. 27, his third career hat trick and first by an America East player since he accomplished the feat against Albany on Oct. 24, 2009. The native of Germantown, Md., found the back of the net in the 33rd, 47th and 52nd minutes against the Catamounts and earned America East Player of the Week honors for his effort. Houapeu, the 2009 America East Midfielder of the Year, leads the league and ranks among national leaders in goals (12) and points (27), and he became the seventh player in school history to amass at least 30 career goals. In addition, the team captain ranks fifth on UMBC’s all-time scoring list with 80 career points, and no player in the nation has more points in the past two seasons than Houapeu’s 70.
