UMBC Athlete of the Week: Christine Sadowski, Women’s Soccer

Christine Sadowski led the Retrievers to a 1-1 week with a team-high three points on a goal and an assist. With the Retrievers trailing Loyola, 1-0, midway through the second half on Wednesday, the senior co-captain tied the game with her second goal of the season, which eventually sent the match into overtime. Then on Sunday, Sadowski picked up an assist on the insurance goal in UMBC’s 2-0 win over Vermont in the America East opener, which snapped an eight-game winless streak. The Baltimore native also anchored the Retriever defense, which recorded its first shutout since Oct. 11, 2009. Sadowski’s two goals and five points this season are career highs, and she is tied for second on the team in scoring.
