Athlete of the Week: Meghan Colabella, Women’s Basketball

Meghan Colabella was outstanding on Senior Night, leading the Retrievers to a 62-55 victory over Albany which clinched the America East regular-season title. The senior forward scored a season-high 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range and a perfect 4-of-4 from the foul line, and she was named America East Player of the Game. With the Retrievers still scoreless after five minutes of action, Colabella sank back-to-back triples, which sparked a 17-2 UMBC run. The native of Upper Montclair, N.J., had 10 points in the first half and drained all four free throws in the final 1:27 of play to help stave off a late Albany comeback. Colabella ranks 13th all-time at UMBC with 577 career rebounds, and she is fifth with 112 games played.
