UMBC Athlete of the Week: Michelle Kurowski, Women’s Basketball

Junior guard Michelle Kurowski scored 22 points – including the final seven of the game – to lead the Retrievers to a 65-56 victory at in-state rival Navy on Dec. 21 in Annapolis, UMBC’s first road win of the season. The Hicksville, N.Y., native connected on eight of 19 field goal attempts and added six assists, five rebounds and two steals in the win. Kurowski currently ranks third in the America East with 13.9 points per game, and she is just 37 points away from becoming the 17th player in UMBC history to score 1,000 in her career.
