Athlete of the Week: Mallory McIntyre, Women's Volleyball

Coming back from an injury which forced her to miss six contests, junior setter Mallory McIntyre returned this weekend to lead the Retrievers to wins over East Carolina and Coastal Carolina at the Pirate Invitational. For her efforts, McIntyre was named to the All-Tournament Team, as well as the being selected as the America East Setter of the Week.

In her first match back against ECU, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native, recorded a career-high 38 assists while also scooping up ten digs for her first career double-double. The next morning, McIntyre followed it up by equaling her assists output with another 38 helpers as UMBC defeated the Chanticleers 3-1. In the final match of the tournament, the junior registered 30 assists, bringing her weekend total to 106, but the Retrieves fell to Marshall, 3-1.
