Athlete of the Week: Pete Caringi III, Men's Soccer

Junior forward Pete Caringi III scored two goals less than seven minutes apart in the first half and the Retrievers held on for a 2-1 win over Robert Morris on Sept. 1. For his efforts, Caringi was named the America East Player of the Week. It was the second career two-goal effort for the Perry Hall, Md. native, who has all three UMBC goals through three games. He scored the game’s first goal in a 1-1 double-overtime draw vs. VCU on Aug. 30 and now has 13 career goals. Caringi scored twice in his freshman debut vs. VMI on Sept. 2, 2010.
