UMBC Athlete of the Week: Pete Caringi III, Men’s Soccer

Pete Caringi III scored the game-winning goal 46 seconds after UMBC had tied the game midway through the second half at Longwood on Saturday, and he also posted an assist on Kingsley Onwuka’s insurance goal less than four minutes later. The sophomore from Perry Hall, Md., recorded his first game-winning goal of the season and the third of his career, and it was his first multi-point effort of the 2011 campaign in the 3-1 victory over the Lancers. Caringi ranks second on the team with two goals and six points this season.
