Athlete of the Week: Malte Bertram, Men's Track and Field

At this weekend’s America East Track and Field Championships in Maine, freshman Malte Bertram won the gold medal in the men’s decathlon. The Einbeck, Germany native was victorious in three of the ten events in the competition – the 400m and 1500m runs as well as the shot put. He also picked up a second place finish in the long jump and third place finishes in the 100m dash and high jump. Betram’s 6,543 total points compiled in the ten event competition ranks fourth in UMBC history.
