UMBC Athlete of the Week: Dan Louisignau, Men’s Soccer
Aug. 30-Sept. 4, 2011
Senior goalkeeper Dan Louisignau was named the Most Valuable Player of the Holiday Inn Express BWI Classic, which was played last weekend at Retriever Soccer Park and Navy’s Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. Louisignau made three saves while blanking St. Francis (N.Y.) in a 72-minute effort on Sept. 1. That game was stopped due to a campus-wide power failure at UMBC. The Wilmington, Del., native then tied a career high with nine saves in a 1-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson, his third shutout in as many games this season, as he has not allowed a goal in 430 minutes dating to the first half of the NCAA Tournament game at Princeton last season. Louisignau now has eight shutouts in 16 career starts for UMBC.
