Athlete of the Week: Chase Plummer, Men’s Basketball

Chase Plummer was named America East Player of the Week on Monday after recording double-doubles in both games last week. The sophomore from Plainfield, N.J., scored a career-high 22 points, including 15 in the second half, and added 11 rebounds in the Retrievers’ overtime loss to Rider on Saturday. Earlier in the week, he tallied 11 points and 11 boards against Morgan State, with all but one rebound coming in the second period. Plummer has recorded double-doubles in three straight games, the first Retriever to do so since Daryl Proctor in February 2009. He ranks second in the America East in rebounding (8.9 rpg) and eighth in scoring (14.2 ppg), leading UMBC in both categories
