Athlete of the Week: Michelle Kurowski, Women’s Basketball

Michelle Kurowski averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game and drained all 14 free throws in two contests last week as the Retrievers went 1-1. The senior from Hicksville, N.Y., scored a season-high 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting and added five rebounds, two steals and two assists in UMBC’s come-from-behind 60-56 win over cross-town rival Loyola on Tuesday. She then added 10 points, four rebounds and a career-high five steals at Towson on Sunday. For the season, Kurowski is averaging 13.2 ppg and boasts a .917 free throw percentage, and she ranks fifth all-time at UMBC with 1,342 career points, the most among active players in the America East.
