Athlete of the Week: Dalton Tolliver, Volleyball

Freshman Dalton Tolliver was named America East Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday after leading the Retrievers to two key conference victories over the weekend which kept UMBC alive for an America East Championship berth. The rookie middle blocker averaged 4.29 kills and 5.00 points per set while hitting with .463 efficiency and adding six total blocks and two service aces. In a sweep of second-place New Hampshire on Friday, Tolliver hit .611 with a team-high 13 kills, as well as two aces. Then in a must-win match against Hartford on Sunday, the Ortonville, Mich., native totaled a career-high 17 kills while picking up five blocks. For the season, Tolliver is second on the team with 2.43 kills per set and 74.0 total blocks, and she has nine double-digit kill performances on the year.
