UMBC Athlete of the Week: Katie Kelly, Volleyball

Junior Katie Kelly turned in her best weekend in a Retriever uniform this past weekend, helping UMBC go 2-2 in Southern California. The Diamond Bar, Calif., native, playing in front of a number of family and friends, led the squad with a .360 hitting percentage, notching 23 kills while committing just five errors. The middle blocker also led the Retrievers with 16 total blocks (1.23 bps), the most in the America East for the opening weekend. Kelly’s best match came in a four-set win over UC Riverside, where she earned a career-high nine blocks and nine kills to go along with two service aces.
