Senior Dennison Long swept for the 100m and 200m dash events for the second consecutive year and was once again named the meet’s Most Outstanding Male Track Performer at the 2014 America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend at Vermont. The Greenbelt, Md. native broke the conference record in the prelims of 100m dash with a time of 10.37, and then equaled it in the finals as he earned gold. Long also led the pack in the prelims of the 200m event, and then snapped the league mark in the finals with a gold medal winning time of 21.12.
In addition to his individual gold medals, Long helped the 4x100 relay team win a silver medal with a combined time of 41.62.
This season, the senior sprinter has recorded career-best times in both short sprint events to move up in the Retriever record book. He currently ranks second in both events, behind only head coach and 1997 Retriever alum David Bobb, with his top 100m time of 10.36 from the Pepsi Florida Relays and his top 200m time of 20.86, which was recorded at the Mason Spring Invitational.
